Q: With convection heat transfer problems like this one, I'm frequently getting tripped up with knowing when to use T average for the film temperature, versus using the space temperature when calculating my delta T. What is the rule for knowing when to use film temperature and when to use the room temperature?
A: Great question, and you know, if you work on enough convection problems, you will probably figure this out, but I'll put a fine point on it for you here so that you don't have to wander. So, and this I think this is true. It's a certainly true for natural convection.
