Q: Can you clarify how to solve the RFS/orifice plate problem using the correct area definitions and explain what's wrong with the reference manual?
A: I made an error in my solution by using the contraction coefficient definition (Cc = A2/A0, where A2 is the vena contracta area and A0 is the orifice opening area) but then incorrectly plugged in A0/A1 instead. As written, the problem lacks sufficient information to solve it because you'd need the vena contracta area. There may also be a stray equal sign in the reference handbook, though I couldn't locate it in my review.
